This transverse section series consists of final versions of the process sections shown in the Section Book/Model (“Literary Space”). These sections are taken perpendicular to the Military Demarcation line at every intersection between grid lines and the MDL. The series shown with the orange sky illustrates the sectional journey from the entrance to the terminus of the DMZ viewing area, while the series shown in blue illustrates the return journey at the end of the day.

Although the sections in this series are not likely to be created for a set of construction documents due to their oblique relationship to the structural grid, these transverse sections along the MDL reiterate more clearly the notion of balanced asymmetry, illustrated in the main meeting space in the center of the building, where the orientation of the walls is the most apparent. These sections are also a necessary demonstration to both governments that the building is equal on both sides of the MDL.
